CARDIO
Cardio, from the Greek kardio meaning heart and Vascular from the latin vasculum meaning vessel, form together in reference to the muscle, blood, and blood vessels that make up our cardiovascular system.
The average heart pumps about 10 pints of blood each minute. During strenuous exercise this amount can increase to as much as 50 pints, circulating the blood through the entire body every 15 to 20 seconds.
The stronger the heart is the more efficient it becomes, pumping more blood with each beat, allowing it to rest for longer periods of time between beats.
Including cardiovascular routines in your training program helps to increase your endurance, energy level, and blood and oxygen supply to growing muscles, while reducing body fat and the risk of a heart attack.
When you fist start out you may only be able to handle 5 to 10 minutes of your cardiovascular workout. Don't become discouraged! It will not take long for you to get yourself into a full workout. Do not over do... nothing happens overnight.
People who exercise on a regular basis and include a cardiovascular workout, have more energy, feel great, look great, and have a better night's sleep.
